Dehydration systems for fruits and vegetables

With the growing trend towards the use of dried fruit and vegetables in all kinds of packaged food there is an increasing need for a drying system that delivers high quality product at minimum cost.
The Sandvik drying system – developed in close collaboration with leading food research centers and universities in Italy – is just such a system.
Using the perforated Sandvik steel belt, this unique system can significantly reduce throughput times and bacteriological counts, in products as diverse as potatoes, carrots, apples, orange peel, celery, garlic, tomatoes, cabbages, onions, beetroots, cauliflowers, peppers, leeks, apricots and many more.

The Sandvik system offers many other significant operational benefits:

• A specially developed air circulation technique and controlled throughput speeds reduce processing times by up
to 50 %, often more.

• Multi stage drying units permit optimum time/temperature curves to be achieved with each product.

• Continuous drying on the Sandvik system enables products to be processed around the calendar.

• The Sandvik drying system operates at low energy levels, and can help to reduce labour costs significantly.
    Special applications:
    • Carrot mass
