Medical wire
Medical wire in different grades of stainless steel, precious metals and a range of other materials. The medical wire is available with a wide selection of coatings and surface treatmens, such as anodizing and electroplating.
Sandvik's medical wire is suitable for a wide range of applications. Our program of medical wire includes, for example, wire customized for specific cardiovascular and diagnostic applications.
Size range
Sandvik medical round wire sizes range from 0.010 to 10 mm (0.00039 to 0.394 in.). Flat wire can be delivered in widths from 0.0762 up to 7 mm (0.003 up to 0.276 in.). Thickness ranges between 0.0191 and 3 mm (0.00075 and 0.118 in.), depending on width.

Sandvik manufactures medical wire in different product forms and with a variety of surface finishes. Our program includes:

Insulation and coating
Sandvik offers several types of coatings including PTFE coating and adhesive bondcoats for its medical wire, all available in multiple colors.
For insulation and bondable coatings Sandvik uses a continuous 'flood coating' process; in other words, the coating is applied to the wire before being formed into a medical device. This guarantees a complete coating over the wire surface, which is both consistent and extremely tenacious.
Sandvik's 'flood coating' process gives the wire quality and performance benefits over 'electrostatic spray coating' techniques applied to the outside surface of a finished device.

PTFE-coated wire
PTFE coating can be applied to any medical grade in size range 0.025-0.762 mm (0.001-0.030 in.). Sandvik offers PTFE-coated wire with coating thickness from 0.00127 to 0.0127 mm (0.00005 to 0.0005 in.). Typical coloring of the PTFE coating is green, although clear finishes and other colors can be offered on request.
