Sandvik 27.9.5.L (Welding wire)

Datasheet updated 2012-08-17 14:55:10 (supersedes all previous editions)

Sandvik 27.9.5.L is a filler material for welding of hyper-duplex (ferritic-austenitic) stainless steels of UNS S32707 and 33207 type (e.g. Sandvik SAF 2707 HD and SAF 3207 HD). Sandvik 27.9.5.L is vailable as wire and rods.

Corrosion properties - all-weld metal

Sandvik 27.9.5.L has a high resistance to intergranular corrosion and pitting. Nominal CPT in the ASTM G48 test is 50°C. The filler also has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, especially in environments containing H2S or chlorides.

Recommended welding data

TIG welding

The parameters for TIG welding depend largely upon the base metal thickness and the welding application.

Electrode negative and a shielding gas of argon+2%N2 should be used to prevent oxidation and to maintain Nitrogen in the weld metal.

Submerged-arc welding

Electrode positive is suggested for joint welding to give good penetration.
