Turbine rotor shafts
Sandvik supplies turbine rotor shafts produced by powder metallurgically based hot isostatic pressing (PM HIP).
One example is the 12% chromium steel compound rotor in which the PM HIP technology makes it possible to join a different material in the bearing area with perfect bonding to the 12% chromium steel. The material in the bearing area reduces the rate of wear during operation.
