Surgical scalpel blades
Sandvik provides hardened and tempered cold-rolled strip steel used for surgical scalpel blades. Our program includes, for example, Sandvik Bioline 13C26, an in-house manufactured martensitic stainless material.
Strip steel in Sandvik Bioline 13C26 is characterized by excellent edge properties enabling easy grinding, high sharpness and a tough and stable cutting edge, properties that are highly appreciated by our customers within the medical area.
We also undertake research and development of new and existing materials used for medical applications.
The Sandvik range of medical materials used for surgical scalpel blades includes the following grades:
|Sandvik Bioline 13C26||
A martensitic stainless chromium steel which after hardening is characterized by very high hardness and wear resistance and good corrosion resistance.
An austenitic stainless steel combining high mechanical strength with a non-magnetic structure. The grade has good fatigue properties and excellent ductility.
|Sandvik Bioline 4C27A
A hardenable stainless chromium steel characterized by very good machinability. It has high hardness and high wear resistance after hardening.
