Bone drills

Sandvik provides stainless steel wire used by customers for the manufacturing of bone drills. For example, our program includes Sandvik Bioline 1RK91, a high-performing precipitation hardening stainless steel combining high strength with good ductility contributing to a strong and flexible end product.

We also undertake research and development of new and existing materials used for medical applications.

The Sandvik range of medical materials used for bone drills includes the following grades:

Sandvik Bioline 7C27
(UNS S42000)

A martensitic stainless chromium steel with very good formability that after hardening and tempering is characterized by high corrosion resistance and toughness.

Sandvik Bioline 4C27A
(UNS S42000)

A hardenable stainless chromium steel characterized by very good machinability. It has high hardness and high wear resistance after hardening.

Sandvik Bioline 1RK91
(UNS S46910)

A precipitation hardening stainless steel specifically designed for applications requiring high strength combined with good ductility in the final product.

Sandvik Finemac

A lead-free, hardenable, free-cutting carbon steel with excellent machinability. It has high hardness, high wear resistance and exceptional dimensional stability after hardening.
