Hot isostatic pressing (HIP)
Sandvik offers a wide range of metal powder for use in the manufacture of components by hot isostatic pressing (HIP). Examples of alloys are stainless steels, tool steels, nickel alloys and cobalt alloys.
In addition to the established products used in this field, Sandvik can offer a range of powders with finer particle size distributions that deliver benefits to the finished parts both in terms of the microstructure and the defect size.
Operational practices have been refined and optimized to ensure that low oxygen levels can be achieved without the need for vacuum melting.
Sandvik also manufactures finished HIP (hot isostatic pressed) products
